Community & Care

Our communities

We believe in putting something back into the communities we operate in. By collaborating with educational, youth and arts organisations we share the benefits of our financial and managerial expertise.

At an individual office level, our staff are involved in various charitable fund-raising initiatives around the world. Whatever they raise as a team, Maitland makes an equivalent contribution.

South African rural communities
In South Africa, the Ditikeni Trust owns 10% of our South African fund services business. The financial benefits of this trust flow to 22 non-profit beneficiary organisations operating in South African rural communities.

Nelson Mandela Children's Fund
Maitland is a Lifetime Founder Club Member of the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund.  In 1996 we set up the UK affiliate for the fund to which we provide financial support, office space and infrastructure services. Our lawyers act on a pro bono basis for the fund.

Education
We sponsor young South Africans through scholarships covering the costs of a Bachelor of Business Administration degree at CIDA City Campus in Johannesburg.  CIDA (Community and Individual Development Association) is the first free higher education institution in South Africa. All students come from historically disadvantaged and economically deprived communities and are unlikely to have acquired tertiary education without scholarship support.

Arts
Maitland supports emerging talent in underprivileged communities.  With our help at the various stages of their careers, we hope that artists will develop an international reach to match ours.
