Maitland 1976

24 May 1941 – 10 November 2009

Maitland’s founder Eric Pfaff, a specialist tax lawyer for South African law firm Webber Wentzel, opened our first office in Luxembourg on 13 January 1976.

Mr Pfaff is cited as being a true visionary, unfailingly courteous, considerate of others and deeply interested in cultural matters and philanthropy. He is the source of all of the values we at Maitland aspire to today. It is a tribute to his early work that many of the clients who formed the core of the firm in the eighties remain clients of Maitland today.

Late 70s

In the late 70s the focus was on cross-border structuring and tax solutions for corporates, with a close connection to the Oppenheimer family’s business interests.
