In addition to his existing role as Head of Business Development, David Kubilus has assumed overall responsibility for Management Company Services (ManCo) and Private Equity and Real Estate (PERE).
Based in Maitland’s London office, David is a member of the group’s Executive Committee.
Prior to joining Maitland, David worked for 16 years for State Street and its affiliates in Boston and Luxembourg, most recently as Head of Business Development in Luxembourg. Earlier in his career, he worked for American Express and Coca Cola respectively in various sales and relationship roles.
Deman Smit has been appointed Head of Operations for ManCo in Luxembourg. As such he heads operations for MS Management Services S.A, Maitland’s Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM) and will be responsible for the execution of ManCo activities in Luxembourg. Together with the team of Luxembourg conducting officers, Deman will also be focused on the continuous development of processes and procedures, ensuring that the ManCo continues to be at the forefront of responding to ongoing developments in a fast paced regulatory environment.
Prior to this role, Deman was a Senior Advisor for MS Management Services S.A. In this capacity he shared his legal expertise, with a particular knowledge of private equity and real estate structures. He also focused on and was closely involved with alternative investment fund structuring.
Before joining Maitland he worked in international law firms for more than 10 years in South Africa, Europe and the United States as a tax and corporate structuring lawyer.
Jon Hugill has been appointed to the position of Group Chief Information Officer.
Jon is an MBA graduate with a proven track record in product marketing, operations, strategy development, leadership, account management and information systems. His career spans more than 20 years, with experience gained in South Africa and London. Jon has been with Maitland since 2005 in various key roles within Institutional Clients based in Cape Town.
In 2016 he was appointed to the Maitland Board where he shares his extensive knowledge of Institutional Clients and Information Technology.
Neal De Graaf has been appointed Head of Global Fund Services.
Neal has over 25 years’ experience in the asset management industry and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). Prior to this role he was Maitland’s Chief Information Officer for three years.
Neal has played a leading role in various organisations. From 2001 to 2014 he was a board member of the Technical and Operations Committee and Chairman of the Reporting Committee for ASISA (Association for Savings & Investment South Africa). Here he was instrumental in developing the ASISA standard reporting template designed to assist with automation and standardisation within the industry. In addition, Neal was a director of FinSwitch from 2012 to 2014.
Neal spent the majority of his career at Coronation Fund Managers (1995-2014) in various roles which included Head of Client Services/Operations and Head of Information Services. Prior to this he was with Old Mutual Asset Managers.
Neil is responsible for overseeing global tax reporting across all three of Maitland’s client segments, including managing and supporting operational activities, strategic business and product development and commercial performance. Neil also assists clients with the development, implementation and maintenance of Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI) policies and procedures.
Neil was previously the principal and founder of Zalu Consulting Ltd., where he provided AEOI consultancy services to corporate and fiduciary services providers in multiple jurisdictions.
Prior to that he was at Genesis Trust & Corporate Services Ltd., a leading fiduciary, corporate and trust services provider in the Cayman Islands, where he specialised in the provision of fund fiduciary services to a diverse portfolio of hedge and private equity funds, unit trusts and special purpose vehicles. Neil also managed the internal regulatory and compliance team with a specific focus on FATCA and CRS.
Neil started his career in financial services in 2009 at one of the big four audit firms in Cape Town and moved to the Cayman Islands at the end of 2010.
